Discovery of Magic at Gamescom 2025!

This month we had the pleasure of showing of Discovery of Magic for the first time ever at Gamescom 2025! Ryan, our founder, braved the strange and foreign lands of Germany to demonstrate our early build of Discovery of Magic.

We were lucky enough to take part in this legendary games event as part of the Gaming Malta booth. There with other Maltese studios we had a small sub-stand where we could show potential business partners through our video demos of the game and talk about our design milestones and future plans.

What we achieved at Gamescom

This wasn’t necessarily a chance to playtest the game with fans (and don’t worry, that is coming soon!) but instead to meet with industry players and set Midow Studios up for a very busy and important 2026. However, that doesn’t mean it was all business all the time…

No, in fact it was also a great chance to feel like real gamers again. Dipping into fellow game booths between meetings to see the amazing things that people are working on. Enjoying the atmosphere and passion of the people in the halls as well as spotting some incredible cosplayers dotted throughout them.

An exhausting but amazing event!

It certainly wasn’t all fun and games in Cologne however. Ryan’s feet were on the verge of collapsing in on themselves after hours and hours running between stands without much food breaks. Not to mention some tough meetings with fellow games industry professionals to chat about the difficult landscape we find ourselves in in 2025.

Overall though, it was a heady experience being among the ever passionate and enthused audience of gamers you’re likely to find at these incredible events. Our exhausted founder surely needed some recovery time after all that action, but we’re sure he wouldn’t have traded that experience for the world.
